NICE (The National Institute for Care and Health Excellence) have previously been well known to push cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and graded exercise therapy (GET) as a recommended treatment for ME/CFS.

In their new guideline they do not recommend GET as a therapeutic option and only recommend CBT as a symptom management tool – not as a curative approach.

These changes come as a relief to many sufferers who have been forced to make their lives worse by following this advice.

You can read the latest guideline from NICE at NICE guideline for ME/CFS: diagnosis and management (Published 29 Oct 2021).
